This collaboration blends two different consumer segments and personas, creating a new space in the market that is largely untapped: ice cream + fashion. It consists of a limited-edition Farm Rio capsule collection that merges the brand’s signature tropical prints with Ben & Jerry’s iconic assets, such as Woody the cow, reimagined into a playful, ready-to-wear winter collection, creating a visual story that screams “collab”. This capsule will include puffer jackets and mittens that will be available exclusively at Farm Rio’s newest store in Madison Avenue in New York. With every purchase, customers will receive a limited-edition tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in exclusive tropical flavors like Guava Groove (guava), Passionista Paradise (passionfruit) and Bossa Banana (banana), activating the reciprocity principle making the customers feel appreciated and more satisfied with their purchase, increasing conversion and loyalty.
Our goal is to make the intersection between tropical joy, winter wear and ice cream culture, which is a space where most fashion brands rarely compete. By introducing the concept of ice cream and tropical prints during wintertime, we are instantly creating buzz as this collaboration will disrupt the usual seasonal expectations. At the same time, by adding a tropical twist on our puffer jackets makes the collection stand out in a category that is usually muted and minimalistic. When we blend these two unexpected worlds, we introduce the idea of a bold “tropical winter”, an aesthetic that feels fresh, unique, highly shareable and still completely wearable during the colder months.
We want to turn this brand collaboration into a true experience and memorable moment, which is why we’re making this collection feel collectible. Every puffer will include a numbered interior label (example: 1/250, etc.), reflecting a sense of scarcity, premium value and the idea of owning a wearable collectible item. The Ben & Jerry’s tropical ice-cream tubs will also be available only during the period of this collaboration, adding an extra layer of excitement for customers. Additionally, the in-store environment will also play a role in this experience. We will be subtly turning the Madison Avenue store to a “Tropical Winter” visual storytelling that will feature tropical foliage with cool-tone lighting and subtle snow effects, really showcasing the story behind this collection. Both, the elements of collectible/scarce items and the immersive in-store experience, create a fun yet premium-feeling moment that customers will remember long after their purchase.
